Somewhere between the majority white conservative city of Billings, Montana where he grew up and the Crow Reservation where he attended college, 21-year-old Winters Plainbull, a Crow Native American, is seeking a space where he can simply be himself. Grappling with an unconventional gender identity, and a learning disability, Winters’ resilience inspires others along the way.

Jessica Moore has been a foodie for as long as she can remember. When she lived in the Cabrini-Green public housing complex in Chicago’s near west side, she recalls how the smells of food from her home-cooking would bring the neighborhood kids to her doorstep. Now, after forced relocation from public housing in 2010, Moore takes 2 buses and a train, averaging 47 minutes one way, to purchase the quality meat and vegetables she relies on for her home cooked meals.

Although Chicago is known for Black Lives Matter, Garfield Ridge in the southwest side of the city, displays a visible alliance to police. Blue-striped American flags, blue ribbons, and "we support police" signs adorn the residential neighborhood, where a high percentage of police officers, firefighters and medical workers live.
